Dance is a very broad term that is used to describe an art of body movements, usually set to music, using set or improvised steps. For our purposes, we will be using dance as a form of physical activity focused on building or maintaining physical fitness.
Dance can be categorized many different ways. It can be analyzed purely by its choreography (repertoire of movements), or it may be classified by it's place of origin, or time in history. Another distinction (difference) that it is important to remember is between theatrical and participatory dance. Dances often fit into more than one categories.
