Night Fever Hustle is the first line dance that we are going to be learning. The Night Fever Hustle is a form of the hustle of the disco era of the 1970s. This is one of 4 line dances your team can choose to perform during our Dance Olympics event at the end of the unit. (Demo or show Video Demo.)

Practice Plan
Part 1 – March With Flair (first 8-count):
• Start R foot, march backwards 3 steps (1, 2, 3). Step together with L foot – clap (4).
• Start L foot, march forward 3 steps (5, 6, 7). Step together with R foot – clap (8).
• Cues: “Back 2, 3, tap. Forward, 2, 3, tap.” Listen to the beat. Step on each beat.
• Self-expression: Roll shoulders or arms as you march backward and forward.
• Start R foot, march backwards 3 steps (1, 2, 3). Step together with L foot – clap (4).
• Start L foot, march forward 3 steps (5, 6, 7). Step together with R foot – clap (8).
• Cues: “Back 2, 3, tap. Forward, 2, 3, tap.” Listen to the beat. Step on each beat.
• Self-expression: Roll shoulders or arms as you march backward and forward.
Part 2 – Grapevine (second 8-count):
• Start R foot, grapevine to the R by stepping to the R with R foot (1), crossing back with L foot (2), stepping to the side with R foot (3), and together with the L foot (4). Clap on 4.
• Next, grapevine to the L by stepping to the L side with L foot (5), crossing back with the R foot (6), stepping to the side with L foot (7), and together with the R foot (8). Clap on 8.
• Cues: “Side, cross, side, together. Cross back!” Move in a straight line. Step on each beat.
• Self-expression: Roll hands as you grapevine. Grapevine with a turn.
• Start R foot, grapevine to the R by stepping to the R with R foot (1), crossing back with L foot (2), stepping to the side with R foot (3), and together with the L foot (4). Clap on 4.
• Next, grapevine to the L by stepping to the L side with L foot (5), crossing back with the R foot (6), stepping to the side with L foot (7), and together with the R foot (8). Clap on 8.

Part 3 – Kick, ball, change, and twist! (third 8-count):
• Kick R foot forward, low, and diagonally across in front of the L leg (1), step R foot next to the L while shifting weight to the R foot, then shift weight back to L foot (and 2). Repeat (3 and 4).
• Twist in place going down (5, 6), twist in place going up (7,8).
• Cues: “Kick, ball (of foot), change (weight). 1, and 2, 3, and 4.” Ball of the R foot touches on “and.”
• Self-expression: Arms move in opposite direction of legs. Exaggerate hip movement.
• Kick R foot forward, low, and diagonally across in front of the L leg (1), step R foot next to the L while shifting weight to the R foot, then shift weight back to L foot (and 2). Repeat (3 and 4).
• Twist in place going down (5, 6), twist in place going up (7,8).
• Cues: “Kick, ball (of foot), change (weight). 1, and 2, 3, and 4.” Ball of the R foot touches on “and.”
• Self-expression: Arms move in opposite direction of legs. Exaggerate hip movement.
Part 4 – Disco Arms, Roll the Dough, and Chicken Wings (fourth 8-count):
• Disco Arms: Standing in place, L hand on the L hip while reaching R arm diagonally up and right. Point index finger to the sky (1), bring the R down to the L hand (2). Repeat (3, 4).
• Cues: “Point to the sky.”
• Roll the Dough, Chicken Wings: Stand in place, roll your fi sts 2X (full circles) in front of chest (5, 6), then fl ap elbows 2X to sides, hands stay at chest level in front of body, click heels together 2X at the same time (7, 8).
• Cues: “Roll the dough, chicken wings. Roll for 2, fl ap for 2.”
• Disco Arms: Standing in place, L hand on the L hip while reaching R arm diagonally up and right. Point index finger to the sky (1), bring the R down to the L hand (2). Repeat (3, 4).
• Cues: “Point to the sky.”
• Roll the Dough, Chicken Wings: Stand in place, roll your fi sts 2X (full circles) in front of chest (5, 6), then fl ap elbows 2X to sides, hands stay at chest level in front of body, click heels together 2X at the same time (7, 8).
• Cues: “Roll the dough, chicken wings. Roll for 2, fl ap for 2.”
Part 5 – Toe Touches and 1⁄4 Turn (final move, 4-count):
• Tap R toes to the front (1), then to the back (2), then to the side (3), then swivel on L foot 1⁄4 turn L (counter-clockwise) while kicking R foot to the front on the turn (4).
• Cues: “Tap, tap, tap, kick-turn.”
• Tap R toes to the front (1), then to the back (2), then to the side (3), then swivel on L foot 1⁄4 turn L (counter-clockwise) while kicking R foot to the front on the turn (4).
